UPDATE: Man dies after collision on A1 in Northumberland

A teenager has died following an incident in north Northumberland yesterday, Northumbria Police has confirmed.

At about 2.45am yesterday, the force received a report of a collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian on the A1 near Belford.

A force spokesman said: "We can confirm that sadly the pedestrian passed away this morning.

"The family of the pedestrian, a 19-year-old male, continue to be supported by specialist officers.

"Police are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or seen the man in the Belford area late on Friday night or in the early hours of yesterday morning.

"Anyone with information should call police on 101, quoting log 130 12/05/18."
